その並外れたスキルで、10代のアマチュア時代から超大型新人として注目を集めていたマイルス・シルヴァス。2014年にadidas Skateboardingのメンバーに迎えられた彼が22歳になった。つい先日、1月18日に発売されたたばかりの新作モデルCITY CUPのプロモビデオでは、5分におよぶロングラインで淀みなくメイクを連発。涼しい顔でスムースに街を流す姿は最高にクールであり、これからのさらなる活躍に期待は高まるばかりだ。天才少年から、次世代を担うカリスマへと成長した彼の現在地からは、いまどんな景色が見えているのだろうか？ CITY CUPを身につけたマイルスへ10個の質問を投げかけてみた。

10 Questions for MILES SILVAS

Q1. Do you remember the situation oroccasion when you skate for the first time? and a chance to start skateboarding?
最初にスケートした時のことを覚えている？

A1. Yeah I started skating when I was five at my aunts house. Her son was older than me by some years and he had a board. I remember pushing around there for the first time.
5歳の時、おばの家だった。年上の従兄弟がボードを持ってたんだ。そこで初めてプッシュして遊んでいたことを覚えてるよ。

Q2. What kind of skate-style do you want to be? Do you have any role model as a skater?
どんなスケートスタイルになりたいと思ってる？ 手本にしているスケーターは居る？

A2. What ever skate style I am right now I wanna be that. Just keep growing in the way I like to skate.
今のスタイルをなんと言ったらいいかわからないけど、これをキープしていきたい。自分の好きなスタイルで成長していきたいと思ってるよ。

Q3. What’s your impression of Japanese skate scene?
日本のスケートシーンの印象は？

A3. The Japanese skate scene is sick.There’s so many skaters out there and so many good ones. I just met this foreign exchange student from Japan last night in Sacramento and he was killing it. Japan always has some crazy talent coming out of there.
やばいよね。たくさんのスケーターが居て、上手いやつも多い。ちょうど昨日の夜、日本からの留学生とサクラメントで会ったんだけど、そいつがすごかったよ。日本からは常に半端じゃない才能が出てきてる。

Q4. Tell me how you felt when adidas invited you to the crew?
アディダスに誘われた時はどう思った？

A4. It was amazing! Like I said before I used to skate the shoes a lot when I was younger and my family is big in soccer so Adidas has always been something we’ve all been hyped on. When I was able to be apart of the team it was crazy! I’m super psyched to be a part of something like Adidas.
最高だったよ。うちの家族はみんな大のサッカーファンだから、アディダスは本当に大好きなブランドだったんだ。チームに参加できた時はおかしくなりそうだったね。自分はアディダスの一員なんだって思うと本当に興奮するよ。

Q5. You performed in the adidas Originals movie, what was it like?
アディダスオリジナルスのムービーにも参加してみてどうだった？

A5. It was dope! I’ve never been apart of a commercial like that. It was a huge movie type set with a lot of people and cameras.I dressed up in a few outfits and did some flat ground. Definitely an epic experience.
かなりドープだったよ。いままでこういうプロモーションに参加したことはなかった。とんでもなく大きいセットとたくさんのカメラ、スタッフが居た。いくつかの服を着てフラットで滑ったんだ。間違いなく素晴らしい経験だね。

Q6. Tell me the brand what you usually wear. and the reason why?
いつもどんなブランドの服を着ているかとその理由を教えて。

A6. I usually rock a lot of Adidas stuff.I’m always wearing sweat pants and some runners and Adidas makes the best of both of those so it’s easy to stay fitted in that stuff.
普段からアディダスをたくさん着てるよ。僕はいつもスウェットパンツとランニングシューズが多いんだけど、アディダスは両方ともベストな物があるから、そればっかり着ちゃうね。

Q7. Tell me your favorite par ts about adidas skateboarding’s products?
アディダススケートボーディングのプロダクトの好きなところは？

A7. I like that they’re trying to use their technology in new ways. And they’re really good at making tech shoes that still look dope to wear and skate and aren’t too over the top. I used to wear the DORADOBOOST a lot but lately I’ve been skating the SUPERSTAR VULC ADV and this new sample that should be coming out pretty soon.
テクノロジーを新しいやり方で使うところが好き。テック系のシューズを作るのが上手くて、スケートするにもイケてるデザインだし、やりすぎてない感じが良い。以前は『DORADOBOOST』をよく履いてて、最近は『SUPERSTAR VULCADV』とこれから出る新作の『CITY CUP』でスケートし
てるんだ。

Q8. What is the difference between adidas skateboarding’s footwear and the others? What’s the identity? and advantage?
他のブランドにないアディダススケートボーディングのフットウェアの魅力は？

A8. The look of the shoes are just fire. The 3 stripes always look good and they skate super good too.
ルックスがとにかく最高。スリーストライプはいつ見てもかっこいいし、スケートにもばっちり。

Q9. What is generally skateboarding to you?
スケートボーディングとは？

A9. Skateboarding is everything. I don’t know what I would be doing without skating.
